5 Great Scottish Airsoft Sites

Updated: Oct 2

The Royal Huntsman team like to experience variety in our Airsofting, and so visit a number of sites across Scotland. We've picked five sites we go back to again and again to showcase here to help you in picking where to spend your Airsofting weekend.

SECTION 8 AIRSOFT

Location: Between Wishaw and Shotts

Rental Guns Available? Yes (from £45, ticket included)

Type: Woodland Skirmish

Covering a massive 700 acres of land, Section 8 is an enormous site packed full of challenging terrain and diverse objectives. The majority of the site is a managed woodland, but the playing area also includes some open space, heathland, and even some water features! The site is well-built and maintained, with multiple major base locations and an enormous number of barricades and other positions to fight from throughout the zone. Every game day is a unique experience, as the sheer scale of the site and variety of bases, terrains, and game modes keeps the site fresh. Sporting an impressive capacity (and regular attendance) for both established players and an expansive offering of rental guns for the new and curious, Section 8 always delivers large and action-packed gameplay. Check out our video to see just a small part of this site in action. (Though the site so truly vast you'd need ten videos to see it all!)

THE DEPOT GLASGOW

Location: Port Glasgow

Rental Guns Available? Yes (£51, ticket included)

Type: Indoor CQB

Set within a former factory building, The Depot offers an up close and personal CQB airsoft experience, fighting door to door, corner to corner, room to room. Transformed into an impressive indoor arena, the former factory layout has been enhanced by substantial work to add many extra barricades, room layouts, and chokepoints to fight your way through. If seeing the whites in the eyes of the enemy team while engaging them is your religion, The Depot is your church. The site plays a range of exciting game modes to maximise the urban warfare feel on offer: bomb location and diffusion, domination, capture the flag, even simple but thrilling team deathmatches are all on offer here, and the player count is carefully managed to hit that sweet spot where there's enough room to roam about but enough players to generate a running firefight throughout the arena. Check out our video to see some of the intense CQB action you'll get on-site.

ENEMY DOWN

Location: Currie, Edinburgh

Rental Guns Available? Yes (£50, ticket included)

Type: Woodland Skirmish

Set in a natural woodland, Enemy Down offers an impressive choice of excellently-developed base areas to fight over, including their iconic stockade "Comms Base" (pictured), the site of many fierce clashes for control! There's also a very impressive mock village, a base on an island (resulting in determined battles for the only bridge over the water!), a trench system, and all the woodland in between to sneak around in and battle through. The natural woodland gives the site a very immersive feel, and creates some exciting tactical opportunities throughout the site. Check out our video to see the Comms Base in the heat of battle!

AREA 66

Location: Between Kirkintilloch and Cumbernauld

Website: Area 66

Rental Guns Available? Yes (£51.50, ticket included)

Type: Woodland Skirmish

How many sites have their own castle to play with? Area 66 does! Or what about a church with an accessible tower for snipers? Area 66 again! Or maybe a D-Day simulation arena with landing ships and bunkers? Oh look, Area 66 again! With perhaps the most impressive base structures of any site on this list, Area 66 offers some very well-made positions to fight over or around, all set within a natural woodland bisected by a large ditch, over which runs a wide bridge with barricades to allow for some heroic pushes across the gap under fire. Check out our video to see the castle in all its glory!

THE FORT

Location: Between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes

Website: Fort Airsoft

Rental Guns Available? Yes (£25 cash on the day, ticket not included, which is also £25, booked online)

Type: Woodland Skirmish

Three guesses on what The Fort's main attraction is in terms of playing space. The site sports a very extensive and well-worked custom-built fortification complex, complete with bunkers, trenches, dugouts, elevated firing positions, and a walled village for all your room clearance needs! Get a true feel for urban warfare with this site, as you spend your day battling through the fortifications, flushing the enemy out of bunkers and learning quickly how good suppressive fire is on those windows when you want to move somewhere. Top tip: pyro will make you a massive asset for your team on this site! Check out our video to see some of this bunker clearance warfare in action!

Great Sites!

There you have it, five sites we'd thoroughly recommend anyone playing Airsoft in Scotland find time to visit at least once in their Airsofting career. Each offers very unique terrain and challenges, making them all a blast to play at even for veterans of other sites. Our YouTube channel has loads more videos of all these sites if you want to do some more research before booking those tickets, but we're confident you won't be disappointed when you do.

Happy hunting!
