WHAT IS AN AIRSOFT TEAM?The Royal Huntsman is one of many Airsoft Teams, which range from groups of friends that have adopted a group name for themselves all the way up to highly competitive, highly skillfull teams that take part in tournaments, who have very high bars for entry and for staying on the team. We straddle the middle of this spectrum: we train and develop tactics for use in the field, we work hard to maintain coordination during games, we make use of radios and have in-game leadership roles, but we are at heart a group of friends with a shared goal, we do not "fail" people out of the team for performance reasons.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED IN AIRSOFT?As long as you've got a pair of boots you're set to start! Simply pick a site you'd like to play at and rent one of their rental package guns (be aware most sites require this to be booked in advance) and you're good to go! Longstanding players accumulate their own weapons, equipment, and other gadgets, but getting a start in the sport is very easy to do with a rented gun. If you see us on site don't hesitate to come say hi! We're keen to help new players get the best start they can, and will gladly offer help and advice for the start of your Airsofting journey.

WHERE IS YOUR HOME SITE?The Royal Huntsman considers Section 8 in Shotts to be our home site. This is an outdoor woodland-style site, the largest in Scotland, offering enormous space and a wide selection of built-up bases and positions to fight for.
-
DO YOU VISIT OTHER SITES?We do! We have visited and occasionally return to most sites in central Scotland, particularly the Depot in Port Glasgow, Enemy Down in Edinburgh, Area 66 near Kirkintilloch, and The Fort in Fife, and will occasionally go further afield to attend larger games at sites such as Operation Overkill at Dirty Dog in England. Check out our YouTube channel for videos showcasing all of these sites.
-
HOW OFTEN DO YOU PLAY?Airsoft is a sport played by most at the weekend, normally on Sundays. We play at least every second weekend for a full day, as the norm for Airsoft sites is to run games every fortnight. We will occasionally play on the "inbetween" weekends at other sites whose schedules see them opening on opposite weekends to our Home sites. You can check out our planned playing days and sites on our Calendar.
-
WHAT IS YOUR PLAYSTYLE?We are an assault-orientated team, meaning that we prefer to be pushing against the enemy team and attacking objectives rather than remaining in a defensive posture or staying near the back sniping at the enemy. As such, we favour quick and aggressive tactics in order to close in with the enemy or to push them out of objectives. That said, there is room on the team for more than just people who can run fast. Every good assault needs a fire support element keeping the heads of the enemy down so they can't take us out as we advance!
-
DO YOU HAVE UNIFORM OR RIF REQUIREMENTS?We do not set any requirements to own particular pieces of equipment or require our players to wear a uniform. We do, however, ask that anyone on the Team looking to roleplay a certain "look" clear it with the Team first. We do require that you own at least one RIF, and the only required appearance element for any member of the Team is showing the Team logo somewhere on their equipment.
-
DO YOU HAVE MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS?No. We will not remove any Team member for falling below an arbitrary level of appearances on sites. We recognise everyone has lives outside of Airsoft and only require that you keep in touch with the Team so we know you've not quit the sport. If you have quit the sport, or cease contact for extended periods of time, we would then consider removal from the Team.
-
DO YOU HAVE ANY FITNESS REQUIREMENTS?We do not maintain any list of required levels of fitness nor do we test the fitness of Members or applicants in any way. That said, we play as a team and expect Members to support the Team's efforts during games, and so you should be reasonably confident you can do that. You are encouraged to check out our Youtube, which showcases our playstyle. You can decide for yourself if you are confident in being able to play the same way.
-
DO YOU HAVE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?You must be a minimum of 18 years old in order to be a member of the Team. This is due to safeguarding obligations that may become applicable to any organisation that caters to under-18s, as they are legally regarded as children.
-
I AM ALREADY PART OF ANOTHER AIRSOFT TEAM/SOCIAL GROUP, CAN I JOIN?We would expect anyone wanting to be a Member of the Royal Huntsman to make this team their main team or main social group for playing Airsoft and, as such, would advise that you not apply if you already have a regular team or social circle that you play Airsoft with. If you are seeking to move from another team or group into the Royal Huntsman we are prepared to discuss this, and would seek to understand why and whether your move would bring any trouble to us from other groups or sites.
